Open Africa is a pan-African NGO that was established in 1995 under the patronage of Nelson Mandela that aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of grassroots communities in Africa by optimizing the synergies between economic development and job creation, conservation and tourism.
Headed by founder and Ashoka Fellow, Noel de Villiers, Open Africa are the original pioneers behind Afrikatourism and have successfully established 55 community-based tourism routes in six Southern Africa countries.
Outside of stimulating jobs, inspiring heritage and promoting conservation of natural and cultural resources, Open Africa links people and places in making a positive difference in Africa.
