The State of Education in Jordan
In Jordan, universal education is available to all children. The Ministry of Education is implementing ambitious reforms to improve access to education. However, several crises have impacted the country: the influx of Syrian refugees, global economic instability, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Syrian Crisis: The integration of Syrian refugees into public schools has led to overcrowding and a decline in the quality of education
• COVID-19 Pandemic: School closures lasting 323 days affected 2.37 million students.
Major challenges for education include early childhood development, access and equity, system strengthening, quality, human resources, and vocational training.
The Importance of EducationAs engineering students at INSA Lyon, we are aware of how fortunate we are to have benefited from the French education system. In some less developed countries, education is not yet a priority, even though it is crucial for the development of children and informed decision-making.
Education goes beyond imparting knowledge; it forms the foundation of every individual, providing tools to understand the world and develop critical skills.
We want to use our good fortune to improve access to education for those who need it most. Every child deserves a fair chance to learn and grow. By getting involved, we hope to raise awareness of the importance of education as a catalyst for change.
