Running for charity - ESMT Marathon intitiative

On Sunday, 28.9.2008 three current and four former MBA students of ESMT are running 42.195 kilometers in the Berlin marathon.

We would like to take this initiative further and use this opportunity for charity fund raising. We aim to raise one Euro per kilometer they are running from as many people as possible. Half of the money will go to a project in Guatemala which provides school education for slum children. The other half will support a project in Namibia which offers psychological help to traumatized children who experienced traumatic situations like losing a parent due to the Aids epidemic, living with alcohol addicted parents or sexual abuse.

To make a lasting impact we hope to raise as much money as possible. However, we are grateful for every amount you can spare, no matter whether you sponsor the whole marathon distance with 42 €, half the marathon route with 21€ or even 10 kilometers with 10 €. The students will wear T-Shirts with a big ESMT logo. So if you intend to cheer please give us your availability since we intend to have special cheering teams in specific spots along the marathon track.

Donations for one of the projects are on purpose not tax deductible. To be tax deductible projects have to be registered in Germany. This is a tedious process which is not possible for all project initiators. However, we believe that these projects need our help,too. We therefore hope that we get nevertheless your sympathy and support.
