Oh yeah baby! I did it in 1hr 22mins or thereabouts. No idea on place but the finishing platform was busy so generally with the herd. 

I totally loved it. Definitely a technical swim as the currents are probably worth more than swimming technique. I managed to make most of the turns in roughly the right places (happened to sit next to the old boy with the 0002 cap and opposite 0001 and 0004 on the boat on the way up so a couple of last
minute tips proved handy. 

No chafing thanks to generous application of Vaseline and managed to keep it off the goggles!!

I went too far to the opposite side from the finish which cost me a longer swim across the main current. But once you have the finishing steps in your sights there's no question of the result. 

The waters were clear and clean, the jellyfish sparse and benign, the sun shone and the fresh water current was indeed cooler and distinctive.

I ended up doing breastroke for almost all of it as I didn't trust my navigation otherwise. More river swimming crawl practice required methinks.

Glorious. Next year anyone?
