About this project

What is it about?
The Cohort on Plant-based Diets investigates and compares the health effects of different diets (vegan, vegetarian, with fish and mixed diet) with each other. The focus is primarily on the exciting field of plant-based diets. With the help of numerous scientific studies, we want to get as accurate a picture as possible of the eating habits and health status of our study participants. In order to be able to determine these parameters precisely, we need know-how, special testing equipment and, of course, qualified employees.
In addition to the health aspects, the issue of sustainability (e.g. greenhouse gas emissions, water footprints and also costs of the different diets) also plays an important role.
Timeframe of the COPLANT study
Phase: pre-test (mid-2022)
Phase: cross-sectional survey (= baseline, end 2022-2025).
Phase: longitudinal surveys (follow-up every 5-10 years).
Main questions of the COPLANT study.
● Detailed survey of diet and health of four dietary groups (vegan, vegetarian, with fish, and mixed diet).
● Associations between dietary pattern and other lifestyle factors on health, as well as social, environmental, and economic factors
● Contribution to the review of existing dietary recommendations.
● Sustainability of different diets.
