The 7.2 magnitude earthquake left severe damage in Haiti - nearly 2000 people were killed, 9900 people are injured and about 60,000 homes were destroyed. In addition, the quake triggered a landslide that cost more people their homes. Recovery efforts are ongoing, Storm Grace and associated heavy rains are complicating rescue and relief efforts.
Our partners at St. Luke are assisting hospitals in providing urgent medical care. Non-medical assistance is also being provided and building materials for transitional shelters are being distributed so that tent cities hopefully do not have to be created.
