About this project
The past 30 years have seen remarkable progress in reducing child deaths. But for the first time, child survival is in reverse and more children than ever before are facing catastrophic food shortages.
Hunger levels were already at record global highs before the pandemic and are now threatening to rise exponentially. Millions are struggeling to cope with the deadly combination of conflict, the climate crisis, and COVID-19, and are being pushed toward hunger.
FIGHT AGAINST THE GLOBAL HUNGER CRISIS
Save the Children has more than 100 years of experience in dealing with crises and epidemics.
Our global response to the Global hunger crisis has four priorities:
- Deliver life-saving health and nutrition services, resources and training
- Provide unconditional cash grants so families can buy essential food and medicine
- Support communities livelihoods and strengthen resilience
- Keep children safe with child protection and mental health services
Malnutrition can cause stunting, impede mental and physical development, increase the risk of developing other illnesses, and ultimately cause death. It remains one of the biggest killers of children under five around the world.
Save the Children continues to prioritise the needs of the most vulnerable and marginalised children. We are driving innovation and scaling up simplified approaches that provide essential health and nutrition services at the community level. At the same time, we're working with communities to build longer term resilience to food crisis.
