The Project was established in 2010 by a 15-member self help group after realising that cases of neglected and abandoned children have become too many in Mombasa. Our mission is to provide a loving home and family for these children and to ensure that they grow up in a secure and caring environment. The home has 9 permanent children aged between 6 months and 6 years .Most of these children are seriously malnourished and require extensive medical care and nutrition .We also provide temporary rescue to many other children as their parents are traced. We are operating from a small rented 4 bedroomed house with 5 workers who work for a minimal salary. Our biggest challenge is funds to buy food, medicines, diapers and expenses such as rent and salaries.Even with no funding the home continues to serve children whenever requested by the Children's Department; we always do our best to provide for their needs but we can do much more with additional support from well wishers. Our aim is to accomodate 20 children and as the number slowly increases our needs become more urgent. We are appealing for donations, both financial and material to help us provide balanced food, better health care, education and general child development services. There are a lot of things that can make the life of a child happier and we will appreciate anything.
