Sudden cardiac death is one of the most common causes of death in industrialized countries. In Germany alone, around 130,000 people fall victim to it every year. Resuscitation measures can be successful in 70 to 90 percent of all cases - provided they are initiated quickly. With every minute, the chances of being resuscitated decrease by up to 10 percent. Resuscitation measures performed with a defibrillator / AED are most successful.
For this reason we decided in 2020 to take part in the “Fight against Heart Death” project in the district Deggendorf. Since the beginning of this year, we have already been alerted several times in our area of responsibility.
A compatible defibrillator must be purchased for better cooperation with the locally responsible rescue service. After the rescue service arrives, there is no need to convert their equipment. The electrodes we use can then simply continue to be used on the device of the rescue service.
In addition, it is our obligation and responsibility to train our volunteer members as best as possible and to prepare them as well as possible for the operational situations. For this, the purchase of a resuscitation manikin for realistic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training is essential.
All emergency services work 100% on a voluntary basis and can be trained extensively in their free time to take on an important role in society.
