In view of the unhealthy work culture that prevails in municipal and state institutions in the region, the organization Facilitadores has launched a project in the following area: the promotion of fairness, respect and transparency in relations between co-workers in public institutions, specifically targeting the problem of workplace harassment.
We do so with the conviction that:
a. governments want to play a key role in the endeavor of building a better world;
b. officials and politicians often lose sight of the fact that their mandate is to contribute to the development of a livable community, and
c. the challenge is so large that it requires a transformation of our work culture, our interactions with each other, and our understanding that we are providing a service to the community and its members.
The project "Patagónico Centro para el Fortalecimiento de la Gestión Pública" focuses specifically on promoting changes in workplace culture as one of many changes that need to occur to create good governance. Unfortunately, harassment is a widespread phenomenon in our institutions and organizations. The Center's activities are targeted at preventing workplace harassment and improving communication and relations in general through raising awareness and providing information through workshops, lectures, facilitation and more.
It is only through projects such as these that Argentina will be able to take maximum advantage of its rich human and natural resource potential. Patagonia is already home to a diverse population of indigenous and immigrant peoples. Extensive freshwater and raw material reserves and large areas of unpopulated land yet ever wants to attract more immigrants. Good governance of large and diverse populations will require a paradigm shift in politics and public administration and creative, sustainable solutions.
