About this project

About Keren Or
Located on Moshav Adanim near Hod Hasharon in the center of Israel, Keren Or [meaning a ray of light] is a
sanctuary founded about four years ago by people with a vision of providing a secure place in the world where people
and animals can get a second chance.
The sanctuary has over 400 different and diverse animals, all of which have
been severely abused, or criminally neglected. The people who take care of the animals are those for
whom the phrase “special needs” was coined. Today Keren Or has more than 60 amazing volunteers,
including those on the autistic continuum, Holocaust survivors, former street children, lone soldiers,
youth at risk, and other groups of people who require assistance of various kinds. A paradise has thus
been created, a special combination of two worlds: one in which the animals feel safe, protected and
healthy, and the other in which we, caregivers and patients, experience exciting and empowering
experiences every day.
The four-acre farm has very large freedom cages (which are closed at night to keep the animals safe),
while the other animals have a large area in which to roam freely.
An isolated area has also been set aside for the therapeutic team and their patients, a place where
therapists and patients feed and take care of the animals with great compassion. All the therapists
have extensive experience of working with people who can benefit from animal-assisted therapy (see
below): children with social or behavioral difficulties, people with a fear of animals (especially dogs),
victims of sexual assault, youth and adults undergoing rehabilitation, people suffering from trauma
of various kinds, etc.

Program Description
The farm houses a wide variety of animals in need of rehabilitation. All the animals come to the farm
through animal rescue organizations or through rescues by private individuals. The farm houses
donkeys, horses, pigs, rabbits, disabled and abused dogs, blind and stray cats, goats, rodent and bird
survivors of petting zoos, and even reptiles. Each animal is provided with medical care and a warm,
compassionate and loving home.
Supporting the Project
Your donation will help to support the Keren Or Farm, a sanctuary devoted
to rehabilitating animals of all kinds that have been neglected or abused, as well as for
rehabilitating people who can benefit from contact with the healing power of animals.

This wonderful combination of humans and animals has created a family. A small piece
of heaven has been created here with people who want to do good in the world, for whom
giving and receiving are an essential and integral part of their lives.
