About this project

In collaboration with the local organization NRO Accion Andina, CARE has been working successfully in Peru since 2001 to improve the living conditions of the population of Quechua Indians. This approach allows people to choose which measures they want to implement to improve their living conditions. In this way, the sustainable success of a project is ensured.
Within the scope of the project, microloans will be extended to the Quechua Indians who do not have any income to enable them to set up their own small business enterprises and make a small life for themselves. The program is designed for farmers, merchants and craftspeople. Moreover, the communities will be strengthened by infrastructural measures such as the construction of community centers, elementary schools, health centers and drinking water systems. Cooking classes for mothers will reduce the malnourishment of children and potential leaders will receive education to strengthen the political representation of the community.
