The Hello Project (Das Hallo Projekt)

The Hello Project is an initiative that emerged in April 2018, aiming to promote intergenerational and intercultural exchange between seniors and immigrants while actively contributing to overcoming the loneliness experienced by both groups. The project consists of three components: group activities, a tandem program, and community events for immigrants.

Group activities include walks, game and cultural evenings, as well as discussion rounds. Both groups have the opportunity to get to know each other, exchange experiences, and break down prejudices in a trusting and relaxed atmosphere. To foster lasting connections, our tandem program pairs a senior with an immigrant based on shared interests, hobbies, and location, providing opportunities to improve both German and foreign language skills.

During informal events for immigrants, our participants gather to discuss, support each other, and build friendships. This win-win situation not only promotes the integration of immigrants and active participation of both groups in society but also creates an intergenerational and intercultural togetherness.
