    About this project

    A. Bielecka from Nepalese Humanitarian Help Organization (NHHO) is responsible for this project
To improve the conditions for the pupils of “Jeeven Jyoti Higher Secondary School” in Village Developmant Community in Chyangli, a remoted area of Gorkha, Nepal, I have initiated to build up a school-canteen there.
The current situation of approximately 1000 school children is a daily insufficient diet during school times. This is mostly due to a lack of available food offers in proximity to the school as well as long school way distances to the single secondary school in the VDC Chyangli. School days for the pupils frequently extend from 8 am - 6 pm. This core problem, as we see, culminates with the fact that the Nepalese western highlands lack in water resources for households and agriculture during extending dry seasons (due to changing climate). Thus, there are no sanitary facilities on the school yard of the Shree Jeevan Jyoti Secondary Higher School.
Our project plan is to counteract both insufficiencies by an integrated school kitchen project approach on meal provision, water collection and energy production by biogas plant. Further more a vegetable garden should be established on the nearby school promises. The school kitchen will be run by the village committee and the school teachers as well as monitored and consulted by the NHHO.
In this way we directly respond to the malnutrition of the school children and initiate a couple of positive side effects such as

    • Gradual improvement in the health situation of the school children
    • Improvement in significant level in teaching- learning activities.
    • Improvement of hygienic situation by building new toilets
    • Protection of the environment by using biogas in the kitchen and
    • by organic cultivation of vegetables in the school garden

The leading aspects for this project are sustainability and empower for self-help!
