About this project

Alexander Saier from Musikschule Hugo Distler e.V. is responsible for this project
Our project “Jugend dirigiert” is to enable children and adolescens from socially less- favored families, migration background or refugee status, to approach Music in an creative way. This way, we aim to offer a perspective for both selfconfidence and selfreflection.
The project facilitates integration and participation in our society.
During COVID-Pandemie, generell conditions for many of bespoken children, who often suffer under badest circumstances, had become even worse...
We now ask you for support of the project “Jugend dirigiert” cause it supplies a chances for some these children, to take things in hand by learning basic conducting skills, meaning Basics in Leading-Skills!
"Jugend dirigiert" is a project organized by Hugo Distler Music School Berlin Brandenburg in cooperation with Hauptstadt-TV, Berlin.
The project “Jugend Dirigiert” roots in José Antonio Abreu (1939-2018, Venezuela), who practiced conducting with children and adolescents in his famous project “El Sistema”. From pattern of basic metric training onwards, he included conducting in his music lessons. In Venezuela, this very successful project, meanwhile including over 1,500 music-teachers and a quarter of a million students, gained social aspects in addition to the aspects of imparting skills and personal development.
In Germany, comparable concepts and experiences to José Antonio Abreu have been used in project “Jugend dirigiert” for music- education of children and adolescents since 2015. Not only skills in music-performance are taught, more over self-perception, social interaction, communication and cooperation are developed as crucial benefits for all participants.
Via “Jugend dirigiert” we provide children an opportunity to work with an professional orchestra, this way they develop non-verbal communication at an high level. This leads to an essential process of integration that is catalyzed by conducting activity: The commitment and the assumption of responsibility:
This initiative is very unique in Europe. We would like to offer to all interested children / adolescents in Berlin-Brandenburg workshops for free.
This workshops will musically be led young musicians, who lack of financial support by government. Many of them, not being Member of European Union, therefore could not be supported by any Aids for artists during the Corona period. „Jugend dirigiert” Workshops will helps them to earn some Money.
So please help us to help them AND THE CHILDREN.
Support them both by donating a little grant.
