PROJECT-E is an NGO working for the education of women in Ethiopia. Since its foundation in 2007, it has grown steadily. The PROJECT-E Hospitality Institute (PEHI) in Addis Ababa was founded in 2015 and provides accredited training in hotel operations or housekeeping for young Ethiopian women. For the young women who are selected, PROJECT-E is a way out of poverty. Through the practice-oriented training concept and the orientation towards the local labour market, the students can count on a secure job and income and thus achieve financial independence. PROJECT-E is about the emancipation of women through education and contributing to the sustainable economic development of Ethiopia.
After the closing of the institute from March until November 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic, we are happy to continue the education for the students since the start of this year. Currently, 14 students from the short-term programme, which runs for four months, are in the final stage of their training. A few weeks ago, a second cohort of students was able to begin the short-term programme. While the students of the short-term programme are completing their internship, as the last criterion before their graduation, classes for the Level I students of the long-term programme, which lasts one and a half year, will start. This enables us to provide face-to-face classes for most of the students again.
"Shaping the future, by giving today"
In order to continue despite challenges from the ongoing pandemic, the funds raised will make a valuable contribution and direct impact for the students. Each week there will be a different focus and over 6 weeks we would like to collect 5.000 Euros together to cover essential costs around the students' learning and living. In addition to basic costs, we would also like to raise money for new learning materials and cover transportation costs for job interviews and internships in renowned hotels.
Due to the exclusively voluntary work of the 35 student volunteers and young professionals, we can ensure that 98% of your donations go directly into the project.
