    The Köpsel group is a self-help group founded by Erika and Manfred Köpsel almost 38 years ago for men and women suffering from alcohol addiction and their relatives. They both battled and beat Manfred’s alcohol addiction which made them realize that they wanted to share their experience and provide support for affected people and their families. Both were looking for spirital help and found that faith in God gave them the strength and endurance to help overcome Manfred's addiction. After Manfred passed away on the 18th March 2008, Erika guides and manages the group by herself. Before Manfred died he urged Erika to continue their work and help members to share their experience, strengths and hopes on their road to recovery from alcoholism. In total there are 50 people in the group affected by alcoholism who look for help, support and someone to talk to. Between 25 and 30 members and their partners normally attend the weekly meetings. For many years the people in the group have come together in an annual worship service at the Kilians Church to find renewed power and to celebrate and give thanks for the strength to leave behind the burden and oppression of alcoholism. Other yearly highlights include annual excursions and trips, e.g. to the Island Mainau/Bodensee (2011) as well as a Christmas party with good food and a homely atmosphere.
