    About this project

School desks for the new classrooms of Vine Parents School in Nambasa / Uganda

It is our goal to support local education. Sustainability through: school expansion, teacher training and income generation projects. The learning situation in Uganda is facing major challenges. Only 10% of the children aged three to five are able to attend preschool. The quality of teaching in this field is in need of improvement. Only one in four students who have attended primary school will attend a secondary school as well. Less than half of the students can read and write by the end of primary school. The municipality of Namabasa is located in the structurally weak east of Uganda approx. 8 km northeast of the city of Mbale. There are around 14,000 children of school age in Namabasa. Together with the school of our partner organization, there are only four schools in the community with a capacity for around 2,200 children and young adults. Our partner organization, the Vine Parents Community in Namabasa, operates the Vine Parents School Nursery and Primary as the supporting company. It has only been founded two years ago and is still under construction. There are currently two school buildings, each with two classrooms, an office and a latrine. Up until the corona-related closure of all schools in Uganda, a total of 125 students were trained there. By the end of this year, the school is to be expanded up to the P7 school-leaving certificate. A total of ten classrooms are required for this. With the construction of the missing six rooms, our partner organization would like to make a contribution to improving the educational situation in the community. Our association supports the expansion of the school. We have planned a joint project for this. Two more buildings with three classrooms each are to be built. It should be financed by public funds as well as funds from our partner organization in Uganda and our association. We plan the interior design i.w. to be financed by private donors. Accordingly, we ask for support at this point for the procurement of a total of 90 school desks. Each school bench is locally produced and consists of a table and a bench for two students. There are 15 school desks per classroom for 30 students each. The furniture is built by carpenters from the region. With the donation of 30 EUR you can finance a school desk!
