Emergency Operation for Kevin

Kevin Javier is 12 years old and suffers from a congenital disease that causes a narrowing of the ureter of the left kidney. This prevents the correct drainage of urine and the right kidney has to work twice as hard. For Kevin this means pain in the kidney, blood in the urine, fever and vomiting. Currently, Kevin's kidney is not cleaning his blood sufficiently and completely. This can lead to other organs becoming diseased because they are not sufficiently detoxified. If Kevin is not operated soon, there is a risk of kidney failure. Therapies such as dialysis treatment up to and including kidney transplantation will then be necessary to replace water excretion and blood purification.

Unfortunately, at present and in other respects, public health care in Honduras is insufficient to treat such cases.
