The project Vacation from War - Dialogues Across Borders creates spaces for dialogue between young people from war and crisis areas and aims to establish exemplary peace practice. We work with young people in three countries of the former Yugoslavia as well as with young adults from Israel and Palestine. In our encounters, young people can meet each other, reflect upon the violent past and discuss current conflicts. In this way, they can not only dismantle monolith images the the alleged "enemy" and overcome prejudices, but also get no know the "Others" as people with their own history, reality, fears and needs. In addition to dialogue, the encounters also offer them the opportunity to plan joint initiatives for peace and political transformation of their societies.
This work needs financial support - be it for the annually increasing travel and accommodation costs for participants, the running costs for office rent and staff or, for example, for the printing of our publications.
