About this project

Stage one:
In August 2010, we have shot a documentary film all around Ghana, about the different traditional music types in the country and how children learn through music, take on the music traditions and help to protect and maintain the cultural heritage.
We have visited around 20 communities and villages for the shooting of this film (Assin Mesomagor, Domeabra, Asotwe, Ejisu, Kumbungu, Savulugu, Tarikpaa, Amedzome, Sokode Bagble, Kpevetornu, as well as communities in Accra, Cape Coast, Kumasi and Tamale).
The different music and dance styles we were able to film are Adjobo, Gaon, Togoacha, Keti, Sikyi, Sanga, Akosua Tuntun, Akadam, Adowah, Bila, Nyindogu, Jara, Bamaya, Takay, Tora, Apolu, Koku drums and Zokpo. Many of these music styles will be featured in the film.
OUR SOCIAL COMMITMENT:
During the film shooting, many villages and communities opened their doors to us. The idea of our "social commitment" was to leave something behind which would be of use and meaning for the people,in particular for the children. In total, 3000 Notepads, 3000 pencils, 3000 erasers and 3000 sharpeners, 100 footballs, 50 football-shirts (of the Spanish national team) as well as 100 boxes of VOLTIC Water (24 bottles per box) were donated to the village’s schools. The material was sponsored by companies such as Astore, Jovi, Oxford, MRW, TLD, KLM Cargo, Skoda, Voltic-Ghana.
Stage two:
We are going back to Ghana in 2012 in order to:
- Present the documentary film during two film projections in Accra and to give the film to the Ghana Broadcast Corporation so they can broadcast it on national TV.
- Organize a photo exhibition in Accra about the project
- Run a three days “Children’s Rights - Music Workshop” in Accra: In this workshop a group of children, who have their own radio show called “Curious Minds” will create their own song about a children’s rights topic. This song will be recorded and used by the children to promote their rights on national radio.
