About this project

Supporting holistic education in India to over 43,000 students in over 420 schools spread across 20 states in the slum, tribal and rural belts where child labour and poverty are widespread.
It all began in 1981 when Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, one of the founders of IAHV noticed children of construction workers playing in the dust while the Art of Living center was being built.

It was observed these children had no access to education.  Basic lessons, healthcare and free healthy food was provided to the children. With support from donors like you, we now have over 420 schools all over India serving more than 43,000 children. When we educate our children, we empower our communities. We believe that education is a universal right that can help break the cycles of poverty, disease and social inequity. It empowers children with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to shape a better future for themselves, their communities and the world.  Join us (and the world) in making the world a better place, starting with one child at a time.

Caught in the vast disparity between the urban and slum.. drugs, alcohol, tobacco  are more readily available than books, and provide an illusory escape for mentally and physically abused children. How will your money  help the world’s largest slum?

Children work as domestic help, as farm labor, or care for their younger siblings without going to school. How are the resources that you fund for,  help villagers.

Remote areas that have no roads or electricity, fraught with gang activity.  Children are more familiar with guns than soap! How will your contribution help this section of the society?
