Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a common and treatable disorder of the nervous system. RLS is characterised by an urge to move, especially in the legs but also in other parts of the body, associated with a wide range of sensations from discomfort to pain and occurring mainly at rest. 

Restless legs syndrome should one day be cured or, better still, prevented in the first place. For this reason, the German Restless Legs Syndrome Association (RLS e.V.) has made the promotion of research a special task in its statutes and has supported research projects on the subject of RLS since its foundation.
