The "Förderverein zur Erhaltung der Burgruine Freienfels", an association for the preservation of the Freienfels castle, has been organizing the Freienfelser Ritterspiele, one of the largest and oldest medieval events in Germany, for 25 years to aid the Freienfels castle ruins. The castle build in the 13th century has been extensively renovated by the association in the past 20 years and can now be used for weddings and museum events. The annual medival festival is the main source of income to maintain the castle. The financial burdens caused by the cancellation of the event, which should have taken place on May 1st, represent a major threat to the continuation of the event and the maintenance of the castle. We hereby kindly ask all friends of the "Freienfelser Ritterspiele" and the castle Freienfels to make a small donation for the castle and the continuation of the event.
