Donation for the construction of a HelpCenter in Morogoro

Since the foundation of Streetkids International e.V. almost 20 years ago, we have come a lot closer to receiving our goal of helping people to help themselves. While working in our orphanages, we quickly realised that education is an elementary building block for a better life. We would like to pass on this opportunity outside our institution as well.

 

If children lose their parents, they are often taken in by relatives such as grandparents, uncles and aunts in Tanzania. However, they are often unable to feed the children sufficiently and cannot enable them to attend school. Therefore we have decided to establish a HelpCenter in Morogoro. Here the families receive donations in kind on the first Saturday of each month, such as rice, beans, corn flour, oil and sugar. This ensures that the basic needs of the children are met. Social workers, who visit the families at regular intervals, ensure that the children go to school and receive uniforms and school supplies. In this way, we support the existing educational opportunities and increase the likelihood that the children will receive a school-leaving certificate. 

 

In our HelpCenter, children in need and their relatives receive help that they would otherwise not receive. They can stay and grow up in their familiar social environment, which gives them a feeling of security and safety. Through the HelpCenter we want to help 50 children over a period of five years. 

 

At the moment we have submitted several applications for funding and hope for financial support to bring the HelpCenter to life!

 

We have estimated 3-6 months and about EUR 30,000 for the planning, construction time and equipment of HelpCenters. The site for the construction of the HelpCenter is already available. Streetkids International e.V. would like to use this aid project to collect donations for the construction of the building as well as the equipment and operation for the next five years.
