Burkina Faso is one of the least electrified countries in the world. Only 19%
of the population have access to energy and translates to a meagre of 3%
in rural areas.
The school “Ceg de Farako-Ba” in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso has 8 classrooms, 2 administration offices and 3 toilets and a kitchen, which doesn’t have access to electricity grid. Classes can only take place when the natural light from windows is sufficient. 368 students are trying to get education under these hard circumstances.
We want to improve the situation
As members of Greening Africa Together and also university students, our main objective is to improve this situation for children in Farako-Ba by providing stable and environmentally friendly electricity through Photovoltaic. The Teachers and Parents Association of the school are involving actively in this project and would manage the maintenance of the system.
Our technical concept
The electrification of the school will be realized with a stand-alone Photovoltaic system, in which a DC system will be used. The electrical energy that is produced through the module will be distributed to the load and battery via charge controller.
How your donation will be used?
We will be using 100 % of your donation for material and services needed for electrification of the school. The budget allocation is as follows:
Light bulbs 839 €
Small electrical appliances 578 €
Battery 2554 €
Cable 3503 €
