The Yanapanakusun Education Center was created to respond to the current lack of educational provisions for the specific needs of young workers. Peru lacks an educational policy that guarantees working children access to a quality education. Night schools and their educational programs are usually not as sufficient as the day schools. In addition, many students arrive to class exhausted from having worked all day.
For these reasons, we founded a school designed specifically for the needs of working children.
Currently, we have over 130 children of different ages and levels of education attending. The school offers programmes to complete primary and secondary schooling.
Through “Adopt a Teacher”, we want to allow these children to receive educational benefits. Investing in teachers instead of individual children, enables us to reach out to more children. One full time teacher´s salary amounts to 4.054 Euro per year, which we have to cover through donations. At the moment, our staff consists of 9 full time teachers and 3 administrative employees.
We do not ask for a teacher to be funded entirely… any donation is welcome and essential!
