    About this project

    S. Schlindwein, unterstützt die Kampagne from Forschungsgesellschaft Flucht und Migration e.V. is responsible for this project
The research collective migration-control.info is a team of journalists, researchers and activists from Europe and Africa. Together we document how the EU rewards African dictators for migration control measures and thereby restricts the freedom of movement of African citizens and blocks the routes of refugees into safe areas.
Our website documents agreements and financial compensations, reveals economic interests and new markets for armaments firms looking to sell border control technology and shows how this policy damages African societies.

Our research project is the official continuation of the TAZ project migration-control.taz.de which provided background information on European migration control in African countries. Its website has not been updated since 2017. Therefore, we came together to ensure that the database remains up to date and accessible to a wide public.

The responsibility for the project was handed over by  taz.die tageszeitung to the Forschungsgesellschaft Flucht und Migration ("Research Society on Flight and Migration"). The non-profit FFM has been researching and publishing on migration movements at the EU's external borders in the context of social struggles since 1994. The FFM will continuously update the state of European migration control and its effects and thus provide the knowledge permanently up-to-date.

During the last months we have been updated the existing information and have built our website, which we would like to make even more user-friendly. In addition, we would like to provide the German and English information on migration-control.info also in French and Arabic. Therefore we need your help!

The update has been accompanied by medico international as well as by Christian Jakob and Simone Schlindwein, who published, based on the research for migration-control.taz.de, the book "Diktatoren als Türsteher Europas. Wie die EU ihre Grenzen nach Afrika verlagert". It has received a wide international response and will soon be published in English ("Dictators as Gatekeepers for Europe: Outsourcing EU border controls to Africa"). The book was also made into a film  which was broadcast worldwide in four languages and watched by more than two million people.

But we also need you as part of a committed civil society that helps document how the EU rewards dictators for their border protection. Support us in keeping migration-control.info permanently up-to-date and accessible!
