White Unicorn – Association for the development of an autistic-friendly environment e.V. in the research network for the generation of knowledge with Dr. Mark Benecke, International Forensic Research & Consulting
What is happening?
We develop questionnaires. This is not only about the
autistic people themselves, but also about
barriers that hinder them, as in
schAUT (BMBF funded). How can barriers at school be removed?
We develop further training courses (workshops/lectures): In the sense of
participatory research, the data sets are evaluated and presented in a clear and transparent way. The further training events are not only for teachers but also for administrative staff and ministries, parents and students themselves.
Where?
At White Unicorn e.V. in Berlin, there are some people who are particularly interested in
research and the implementation of questionnaires. Contacts with other researchers and universities have been established and work can begin immediately and thus continue!
Why?
The barriers faced by autistic people are still largely unexplored! - and in 2020, the Federal Participation Act came into force. There is a lot of unknown territory waiting to be discovered!
How?
Research questions are asked. These are given a methodologically useful framework in the sense of scientific work.
The surveys are made accessible in simple language with the help of illustrators, communication designers and IT specialists, and the results and knowledge gained from them are made available to anyone who is interested.
Background
Thanks to many sponsors, such as Aktion Mensch, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, foundations and countless individuals who support us and take part in the surveys, we now have the
first survey results on the barriers.
A translation into easy language was approved for the first questionnaire. All 27 barriers are now translated and available in picture form. There is nothing to stop us from looking at each individual barrier. This has already been done for the question about noise! The
first survey results are already available here too
