The HipHop Academy Hamburg is a non-profit project for young people between the ages of 12 and 25 that is unique in Germany. The Academy offers young people a professional, long-term and sustainable talent development in all relevant parts of hip-hop culture. The aim of a multi-level training system is to motivate the young people to participate, to promote their talents and to give the participants a qualification that gives them the opportunity to have a career as a professional artist and/or trainer in the future. Young people from all over Hamburg can join our classes and receive individual support.
Rap tracks, dance choreographies and beatbox shows are developed together with the students. The music and lifestyle of hip-hop reaches young people from different social and ethnic backgrounds who overcome differences and exemplify integration through their common interest in hip-hop culture. In this way it is possible to show the students perspectives and conveying them the values of hip-hop culture - openness, tolerance, non-violence and respect. Respect for the performance of the other and the promotion of the individual expression of each individual is a core idea of the project.
Only trainers who are highly regarded in the hip-hop scene work with the students. As role models they show that continuous performance can change life situations and open up new perspectives. Around 700 young people are currently taking part in the Academy's trainings.
The HipHop Academy Hamburg is a project of the Kultur Palast Hamburg foundation.
