    About the project

Playing music together means learning from one another. This motto is especially true in the Orchestra Academy, where talented young musicians from all over the world come together to play music with the professional musicians of the Konzerthausorchester. The young musicians receive a scholarship for up to two years.

During this time, a member of the orchestra assists the young musician as a mentor, providing lessons and an introduction to the musical tradition of the Konzerthausorchester. Academy students are able to implement everthing they learn in their daily orchestral life. They are not only involved in rehearsals and performances, but also participate in concert tours and film shoots, or help organise junior and sponsorship projects.

    Who benefits from my donation?
Your donation goes directly to the scholarship holders. They receive a monthly stipend to cover their living costs and benefit from individual music lessons, auditions trainings and much more. Currently the academy supports musicians from e. g. Cuba, Sweden, Bolivia, Chile, Japan, Serbia and Germany.

What our academy scholars say about the program:

“I was incredibly happy when I got the news that I could come – my whole family was so happy! It was a big change for me: the climate, the language, the people, everything is different from Havana. At this point I feel very comfortable and one of my biggest wishes has already come true: I played a concert under the baton of Iván Fischer.  It’s a great experience to meet so many different conductors here!
We academists all get along very well, some even celebrated christmas together.”
-Danielle González-Sánchez, 2. Violin academist from Cuba
