About this project

SHRESTHA is running a school, for the benefit and overall development of children living at the slum areas. In this school, we are not only educating them but also giving a chance to learn vocational skills. As per the record, we have more than 95 children who are availing this opportunity.
Bringing these children to our school has never been an easy task, as some of these are equally helping their parents to earn bread and butter for their family. They are making money through tasks like garbage collection, shoe polishing and even begging. These families consist of 5 children on an average, so it becomes impossible for the illiterate and jobless parents to bear the expenses. In order to fulfill their daily needs, they force their children to work along with them and almost fail to understand the need of education. Shrestha is putting its best effort to make these slum dwellers understand the importance of education in one’s life, curb the child labor and convincing the parents to send these children to our school.
We are working on right from the foundation of these children so that they can start reading, writing and do the calculations, required for the day to day life, and gradually proceeding towards higher classes.We have divided this school in two age groups: one is 5 to 8 years and the other is 9 to 16 years.We are also running skill based classes like stitching, knitting, and painting with an aim to improve their future prospects.
Our daily activities include:
Maintaining the Attendance:
Teaching subjects like English, Hindi and Arithmetic:
Vocational Studies:
Art & Craft:
Providing them Nutritional Lunch:
Our Extracurricular activities include:
Moral Education.
Computer Education.
Dancing & Singing.
Celebrating the festivals.
Games and sports.
Lastly, Shrestha distributed clothes and milk bottles to the newly born babies and toddlers. We also educated the women regarding the family planning and explained them the advantage of keeping a gap of 3-5 yrs between two children.
With the help of donation we able to sustain our project long time and provide more benefit children so in future they live there life priedly and make there own identity in our society.
