NINA — womeN IN Action – fraueN  IN Aktion  is a Hamburg based open group for refugee women, migrant women, and friends. We want to learn from each other, to support and strengthen one another, and collectively organize for our aspirations, ideas and requests.

Actions

The NINA-women help each other with everyday questions, questions about residence rights and asylum procedures,  job and house search, and much more. In addition, we are part of various events Germany-wide. Meanwhile, many people invite us to share our experiences and knowledge. We give workshops on topics such as "How can we open our structures to Refugees?", "Dublin", and "The situation of women* and children in refugee camps". Our women spoke on podium discussions such as "Creative Resistance and Feminist Practices" and were part of the Women in Exile and Friends bus tour. In 2018, we also organized our first major one-week seminar "Feminist Resist - Skill-Sharing and Empowerment Week" with more than 60 women in Wendland.

History

The group exists since over 2 years now, more than 50 women have already been part of regular meetings or joint actions. In addition, in November 2018 we started to use our intensive contacts to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to set up a group for the region with the local women.

Contact

We meet regularly on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month - current dates are on Facebook. There is always food and child care.
