About this project

The multi-stage concept of ‘Maritime Recycling’ involves collecting plastic waste in waters with special waste collection ships designed by us, cleaning shores and beaches and then recycling the plastic or, in future, converting it back into oil.
The organisation is also involved nationally and internationally in the removal of oil in water, research into the spread of microplastics in the sea and education, awareness-raising work and documentation on the topic of marine littering.
One Earth - One Ocean e.V. stands for:
- Cleaning waters and shorelines worldwide
- Researching the spread of microplastics in waters
- Information and education projects on plastic waste in waters
- Documentation of international scientific studies on the topic of marine litter
- Limiting the waste of resources
In 2013, One Earth - One Ocean e.V. was recognised for its maritime recycling concept with the prestigious GreenTec Award 2013, Europe's largest environmental and business award at the time. This was followed in 2016 by a nomination for the Bundespreis ecodesign, the highest honour for ecological design in Germany. Finally, in 2018, the association was nominated for the Ocean Tribute Award from Prince Albert II of Monaco, which honours the most innovative and sustainable ideas in the field of marine conservation. In November 2019, our concept for the SeeElefant waste recycling ship was honoured with the German Federal Ecodesign Award 2019. In 2021, we were finalists for the German Sustainability Award and in 2022 we were honoured with the ‘Goldene Henne 2022’, Germany's largest audience award.
Our work is financed exclusively by donations and sponsorship, we have not yet received any public funding. That's why your donation is so important for our work.
