About this project
Technology without Borders equipped four school in Ghana with IT infrastructure. This was done in the course of two projects which were part of the "Teaching Computer Basics" (TCB) program. To ensure that students can sustainably profit from the new infrastructure, teachers are continuously supported by Ghanaian TCB members. Since these school don't have a stable internet connection, the lack of access to free knowledge is an often-reported issue. As a solution, TeoG provides the KnowledgeBox (see ...). KnowledgeBox is a Linux based server which contains offline versions of free knowledge and education platforms (Wikipedia, Khan Academy, …). This tool can easily be integrated into existing classroom infrastructure.
Implementation
The four schools (two in Nkanfoa, two in Agona Abodom) will be equipped with KnowledgeBoxes. To do so, required infrastructure (network supplies) will be installed. After all systems have been successfully tested, teachers will be trained in the proper handling of the KnowledgeBox. This will be done during a one-week workshop.
The project will be implemented by the TeoG members from Amberg and Erlangen. It is supposed to take two weeks and will start end of February 2019.
