    About this project

Annekatrin E. from Malayaka Haus und Freunde e.V. is responsible for this project
Imagine, you cannot go to school because you have your period and have no money for or accees to sanitary materials.

Young people from Finland and Uganda are working together towards better periods, one pad at a time, supported by Rugby Tackling Life (Uganda) and Ruusuvuori School (Finland); the Youth Tackling the period challenge

Reusable pads proved an affordable and popular option among players who received free samples.  The following plans were made jointly by RTL and Ruusuvuori School – more information (in Finnish only) about the school project can be found here: The plan

Project number 1 – RTL Pad Team

Based on this RTL would like to have an RTL Pad Team where rugby playing students from various regions will receive training over 2 days in how to make reusable pads from easily available material for personal use.  These students will then teach other students within their schools and communities on how to make reusable pads such that everyone can be equipped to manage their periods comfortably and within their financial means.  RTL will need a total budget of €1,000 to get this team started.

Project number 2 - RTL Pad Venture

RTL would also like to set up an RTL Pad Venture that will offer a much needed opportunity for a young player to learn a profession.

    • She will make reusable pads to a high standard so that they can be sold on the Ugandan market thus generating a steady income for herself.
    • She will supply RTL with pads to distribute to rugby players during RTL events.
    • She will receive support from RTL for a maximum of one year, which will include tuition fees for a business course certificate, and then will be expected to become fully independent and if successful to employ unemployed female rugby players.
RTL will need a total budget of €3,500 to make this happen.

    Teamwork

RTL would like your help to Tackle the Period challenge and will appreciate every donation, big or small!
