About this project

Hand of Progress e.V. is a non-profit organization working towards improving water, sanitation and hygiene in schools.
Our commitment:
- improve accessibility to sanitation facilities
- protect learning spaces from foul latrines
- protect the environment from further faecal contamination
We focus on schools because of their vital role in breaking the vicious cycle of diseases that result from poor sanitation, hygiene and water. Covid19 pandemic has worsened the situation in vulnerable schools.
Currently, more than 3000 children in five boarding schools in Kitale and West Pokot, Kenya are waiting for our help. Besides the health challenges, the children have to fetch water far from their schools. This is dangerous and interferes with learning hours.
We support
- construction of permanent sanitation structures
- digging and storage of fresh water from boreholes and rainwater.
- construction of sewage disposal systems
- hygiene promotion
- operations and maintenance
