    About this project

Martin G. from Rückenwind e.V. is responsible for this project
    Our Goal!
In order to help refugees integrage into life in Berlin and give them the freedom of mobility we collect old bicycles, with a view to repairing them. In order for us to be able to properly repair the bicycles in our workshop, we need €25 per bike. With this you are financing a Light, a helmet and a lock!

By the New Year, we want to give at least 100 refugees a bike. To do this we need your support. Get involved right now and donate some money for a repaired bike

    About us
Rückenwind is a non-profit association that operates a bicycle workshop in Berlin-Neukölln. Here people with and without experience of having fled their home work together for eco-friendly mobility. To promote integration and the opportunity to move independently in the city, we offer newcomers the chance to choose and repair a bike with us. They are supported by our team and invited to get involved with our project on a regular basis, if the process of repairing the bike was fun for them! The bikes that we give away are part of a recycling process: an old bike is donated to us and brought to our workshop -> The bike is selected and equipped with spare parts from other old bicycles -> The bike is repaired and driven back through the city.

In addition to our regular opening hours, we're open weekly to all Berliners as a self-help workshop. You can make the light on your bike shine again and at the same time support a local social project. Refugees working in the self-help workshop, can use the experience as a stepping stone to make a start in the labour market. Through the shared experiences, a diverse community has emerged. During the summer months we organise bicycle tours and year-round activities in the community.
