New Future for Children is a children's center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, founded in early 2003 to provide for the needs of children ages 2 to 18 who would otherwise be fending for themselves. Some of the children have lost their parents to AIDS. Currently there are 58 children being cared for and protected by a dedicated Cambodian (Khmer) staff.
Along with providing housing, three meals a day, clothing and medical care, NFC provides school uniforms and transports students to local schools as well as offering several in-house educational programs. These include classes in English, computer skills, crafts, and traditional Khmer music and dance.
The biggest challenge is to keep the orphanage going as it relies heavily on private donations to survive. It costs around $9000 each month, which is less than $6 per child, each day.
