Civil war, draught, millions of displaced people: in South Sudan there is one catastrophe after the other. Now UNICEF has declared a famine, which means that people have already started dying of hunger. In South Sudan alone there are a quartermillion children in acute danger, on the run and without any chance of an education.
We at ZORA - Childen and Youth care do not want to stand by and watch, we want to send a message to the children in South Sudan: we are thinking of you! You are not alone! And because we want you to have a chance to rebuild your country and build your future after the war, we are supporting your schooling.
"Child to Child" is a donation from one child to a child in South Sudan.
The donation can be given by the child itself, or of course by an adult in the name of a child, whom one is partial to, i.e. ones one child, godchild, local childrens soccer club. ZORA gives the entire amount of the donation directly to the colleagues of Windle Trust Kenya (http://www.windle.org/) in the refugee camp in Kakuma (Kenya), where many South Sudanese children have found refuge. On-site the money buys school materials, finances teaching and supplies water and food for the refugee children.
Of course a donation is not the answer to all problems. But in the hands of local helpers it can relieve
the horrible suffering, right now and very specific. And gives the hungry and displaced children a chance to rebuild their country in the future.
