On December 11th, 3 pm, we are planting a tree at the Health and Social Center Moabit, Lageso House A, in memorial of the little refugee boy Mohamed, who got kidnapped there last year, abused and killed.
In a collective ceremony we want to honor the boy's life, put our love, our wish for a peaceful coexistence against the crime. Mohamed represents all refugees, the children in particular, who lack space for a happy and carefree childhood in their families that are stuck between past trauma and anxiety about the future. This tree is supposed to be a sign for the people arriving here that we make no difference between our children and theirs. As the tree will grow and reach out itsroots into the earth, we wish them to find stability and security again.
This peace tree does not only belong to that place, because Mohamed got kidnapped there, but also, because thousands of people passed it in trauma and, because Lageso, as the main refugee administration, turned into a symbol for the huge integration that this city and country is facing. Despite all prejudices, lack and fear, there are many among us, who successfully put their hearts, creativity, energy and time into that challenge. So this celebration is also for us, to honor our efforts for peace.
For those who want to join us for the planting ceremony: You are warmly invited to come to the Health and Social Center Moabit, Lageso House A on December11th at 3 pm. Bring a candle and if you like, a written wish or prayer to hang it on the tree. This ceremony is the first of many, planned for Berlin next year, as a collaboration between the PeaceTree Foundation and the Pulse of Peace.
For the last steps of realization I need your support: I am collecting money to buy and pick up the tree, pay gardeners to prepare the planting and the expenses of Matthias Walter of the PeaceTree Foundation, who will hold the ceremony. I cannot explain you the exact amount yet, but I can give you a calculation as soon as I figure everything out. All the money beyond will be donated to the PeaceTree Foundation. You can get a donation receipt for any amount.
Thank you from my heart, I am looking forward seeing you there
