About this project

Joseph Anthony C. from The Bharath Abhyudaya Seva Samithi is responsible for this project
 Dear Friend,

Greetings from BASS-India!

We are writing to you with a heartfelt appeal to support our project to give hope and future to the children of slums in Guntur, India.

BASS-India is an Indian NGO that has been working since 1978 to empower marginalized communities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states.

BASS vision is to create a society where everyone enjoys equal rights and opportunities, regardless of their caste, creed, religion, gender, or economic status. One of  our  key projects is to rescue and rehabilitate child labourers in Swarnabharathinagar slum, one of the largest slums in Guntur city.

BASS started a special training school for identified abandoned child labourers in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Government of India under the National Child Labour Project in 2009. The school aims to prepare the children for mainstream education by giving them primary education for 1 to 3 years. The school also provides them with nutritious meals, decent clothing, health care, counselling, extracurricular activities, and life skills training. So far, they have rescued and educated more than 200 children from this slum and mainstreamed them into formal schools or vocational training centres.

However, we are facing many challenges and constraints in running this school. The government has stopped providing salaries for the teachers and other needs since February 2019. And the project is finally closed by the government of India from 2022. Hence we are struggling to continue the school without any financial support and currently we are operating after-school learning centres during evening times.

We are appealing for help to cover the operating costs of centres and improve classroom facilities and provide better nutrition, uniforms, and education material for the children of the special slum school.

Your generous donation will make a huge difference in the lives of these children. You will not only help them escape from child labor and poverty but also give them hope and future. You will enable them to realize their potential and achieve their dreams. You will be part of their transformation and success.

Please join us in this noble cause and support us today. Together we can make a change.
