    About this project

Juli Kuhs from Austrian Baptist Aid is responsible for this project
Projekt:RefugeeIntegration is a unique community outreach project for refugees and asylum-seekers in Vienna, Austria. Our team has served refugees in the city for over fifteen years, but since Summer 2015 we have undergone a huge expansion of our community and our programs. Our needs are persistent as we continue to react creatively, compassionately, and with hope to those displaced because of the global refugee crisis. We embrace the challenges and opportunities that come with long-term integration work.

We actively are working to address the physical, social, and emotional needs of asylum-seekers and refugees in Austria. Through weekly community meals, intentional relationship building, and informal gatherings we seek to create an environment where displaced people can feel safe and at home. We do all we can to address logistical needs of asylum-seekers through language classes, technology literacy courses, and aiding with transportation and extraneous living fees.

Much of the work of Projekt:RefugeeIntegration is supported by people from across the multicultural congregation of projekt:gemeinde. Lawyers and teachers, professors and social workers use their skills and expertise to teach language classes and guide people through the complicated legal process for asylum in Austria. Pastors and counselors work overtime to help refugees transition to life on a new continent and cope with the emotional trauma that many experience.

Our dream is to fund our financial needs through a long-term sustainable model. Take a look at our ambitious social enterprise project called the Donauhof, a former 20th century hotel that will hold a coffee house, co-working offices, and conference and event location. We are breathing new life into this rustic space in order to eventually provide job training for refugees and sustainable revenues for our work with Projekt:RefugeeIntegration.

However, until we complete the Donauhof we need grassroots investors--people eager to help equip refugees and asylum-seekers for a future full of hope.

Projekt:RefugeeIntegration is a holistic, long-term integration project in the heart of Europe. We have over fifteen years of experience in refugee integration work and intend to support the asylum-seeking community for decades to come. Will you join us in our work?
