Support my work with children in Santa Cruz - My voluntary year in Bolivia

At the beginnig of august I will start my voluntary year organised by Volunta in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. There I will work in a children's home where I will teach english, sing, play and do other activities with the children.

This August I will leave Germany to help in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. My name is Anna Schmidt and I just graduated high school. Before I will go to university I want to experience life from a different angle and share my knowledge, my creativity and the feeling of a safe childhood with other children who do not have the same chances that I had.
Where will I help?
I will help in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. Bolivia is a developing country but is on a good way to improve its situation. The biggest problems are poverty, bad infrastructure and inadequate education. Furthermore, the informal financial sector stays a huge problem in Bolivia. Santa Cruz is the second biggest city in Bolivia and there is a huge gap between rich and poor same as in other cities in South America. A lot of children have to live on the streets and need to work at a young age.
What will I do?
My program is divided into two projects. Half of the week I will work at a children's home "San Lorenzo" where I will do different tasks. I will help teaching English to the children, help them with homework and have fun with them in their free time.
The other part of the week I will work at a day care center "Luz del mundo" where I will also teach English and will come up with my own projects for example crafting, singing and other activities.
Why will I do a voluntary?
Not only is it a great experience to get to know a different country, a different culture and a different way of life but I will also get to know myself better. Another reason for my voluntary year is that I want to give something back to this world. I want to help those children who do not have the same possibilities that I had. I imagine that I could be a role model to them but I also will learn a lot from them. Not only will I grow with the difficulties that we will have in the beginning because of the language or other things but they will probably open my eyes to a whole different world. Therefore I will help in any way I can to support those two projects.
What can you do to help me?
My organisation is called "Volunta" which is a subsidiary organization from the "German Red Cross". Volunta supplies me with accommodation, provisions and support. It is funded by the government but Volunta cannot cover all of the costs. That is why I would be really thankful if you contributed to my project.
