Free education for and providing lunch meals for the orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) at Believers Community School started in 2002 out of the need following the privatization of the mines which left most homes without stable incomes. Eleven member staff which include 8 teachers, a cook, caretaker and Project Coordinator ensure the objectives are met. The target group (beneficiaries) are OVCs aged 4 to 16 years. The catchment area for this program is the surrounding community Luanshya central and partly Mikomwa townships. A total of 160 children currently being supported in this program are the intended beneficiaries. The community will have been relieved of the challenges that arise from street children who don't go to school and resort to begging in the streets. Donations towards this project will alleviate most of the challenges that arise from the financial gaps.
