About this project
369 pupils between 4 and 16 years are currently attending the “Escuela Alemania”. The school is located in the area Balmaceda in Santiago de Chile, which is known for its high number of immigrants, such as Peruvians, Bolivians, Colombians, Ecuadorians, etc. It is quite common, that multiple families live together in just one flat. Furthermore, many children do not have any papers and are not registered anywhere. Therefore they are not getting any financial or social support from the government. The children and teenagers are also often exposed to violence, alcohol or drugs.
In order to improve their situation, Visocial wants to teach these youth important values, like respect, discipline, tolerance and friendship, through different workshops. In addition, these programs will help keep them off the streets. The workshops are held by qualified teachers, who are supported by volunteers from Germany or Austria. An important goal of the Workshops is to integrate the students into school and society and give them a feeling of belonging.
At the moment the following Workshops are realized:
- Capoeira
- Soccer
- Handball
- Basketball
- Theatre
- Volleyball
- Music
Apart from the ordinary donations, Visocial is also offering a sponsorship programme. By sponsoring one child, you are supporting the whole project.
Visocial Chile cooperates as well with the travel agency Logistur and offers tourists to visit the „Escuela Alemania”. The goal of this social tourism is to make travelers aware of the different realities of our society and to build up relationships between the tourists and the pupils.
