About this project
Having realised the high drop out rate of disabled children from the government schools due to migration of families, poor family status and difficulty in mobility ,SPECT planned to establish a residential special school for them.As a result of that SPECT has started St.Peter Paul Special Residential Middle School for Differently Abled in the year 1995.Later on it has been upgraded into high school and higher secondary in the year 1997,2000 respectively.
St.Peter Paul Special Residential Hr.Sec.School has been recognised by the state commissioner for the differently abled ,Government of Tamilnadu without financial support.
There are 95 differently abled children ( Physically challenged,Speech and hearing impaired and Mentally challenged) aged ranging from 11 - 17 receives formal education from the school and 9 teahcing staff and 3 non teaching staff are working in the school.
Since from the establishment of the school approximately 350 differently abled children were sent out with school final level qualification.
Eventhough the school has all the facilities such as class rooms, library ,computer training unit, physiotherepy unit and seperate buildings for children accomodation ,SPECT struggles lot to meet out the expenses for teachers salary, cost of food and maintanence cost.
