The children in the Nepalese mountain regions are from humble homes. In Bihi there is neither running water nor electricity nor a real road to reach the village by car. Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, is a 4 day’s march away.
The buildings in Bihi only consist of stones stacked on top of each other. It’s not surprising at all that none of the buildings survived the earthquakes in 2015.
Initiative Nepal Kids e.V. is reconstructing and improving the Shree Gonpa Himali Primary School in Bihi to enable the children’s chance of education and a secure future. The school was built in consideration of the weather conditions in the Himalayan region- earthquake-proof and protecting from coldness- to provide the children a safe refuge and a place to learn.
