    About this project

Christiane U. from Bodhicharya Deutschland e.V. is responsible for this project
In the garden area at Bodhicharya center in Berlin-Friedrichshain, a Stupa for Worldpeace is under construction. Stupas originated in India more than two thousand years ago and were used mostly as reliquaries. They are considered as the most important symbol of Buddhism. A stupa is a sacred building, which embodies the spirit of an awakened being, a Buddha. Its diverse symbolic meanings point out to the spiritual path. The sacred building inspires not only due to its beauty and great symbolic value, but also embodies the principle of feng shui. The traditional architecture and the design of the surrounding garden are constructed according to certain rules, so that healing energy can flow freely. Stupas have a cleansing effect on the elements, promote the inner and outer balance between man and his environment and thus contribute to peace in the world. The construction is expertly guide and built by professional stupa builders from the Buddhist monastery Lekshey-Ling in Kathmandu / Nepal, Chojey Lama Phuntsok and Khenpo Karma Namgyal.
With the arrival of the monks from Kathmandu, pressure is put on a rapid completion of the stupa. We kindly request for funds since this forces up prices.
The nonprofit and benevolent association Bodhicharya Deutschland e.V. (Germany) for Peace and Understanding, under the patronage of H.H. 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje founded by Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, is active in the fields of healing, helping and harmony. As of 15 years, the association has been operating and expanding a meeting place for (inter-) religious and social use. The buildings complex is a Berlin heritage property, some of which are still under construction. There are seminar rooms, apartments, an outpatient hospice, as well as a walk-in garden with an area for a stupa monument. The stupa is to serve visitors from all cultures and religions of the world to engage in quiet contemplation, meditation, determination and motivation, and to revitalize. A stupa is circumambulated clockwise, silently, and in a meditative good. In 2015, the estimated cost for the construction and the harmonious design of the immediate vicinity of the stupa (with facilities for disabled, and mothers with toddlers) are as follows:
Costs for Building Materials: 42.200 €
Costs for the design of the garden and environment: 36.000 €
    Costs for interior: 10.300 €
    Logistics costs: 29.000 €
    Total 117.500 €
FIRST FUNDRAISING STEP: 50.000 € until November 2016

A stupa is built in a way so that it may benefit countless people throughout many centuries. To bring about the benefits of other beings is of great spiritual merit. Accordingly, since immemorial time, this beneficial effect has been proclaimed to all people who contribute financially and with support for the construction of a stupa. May many people enjoy this effect. For more information, please visit: www.stupa-berlin.de
