About this project

The students, teachers, administration and management have been working together over the last few months to open up AUC to potential students from countries that are in the midst of some of the worst situations and crises that could inflict human life.
This January 10 refugee students will join our regular Dutch A1 classes and another 20 refugee students will participate in student-led Dutch courses. While this is a great opportunity for students to learn the new language, we are also hoping to create greater interaction between the two student groups.
And this is only the start. Starting February, refugee students will be able to join regular classes informally and for September 2016 we can hopefully offer full-placements.
To make this possible we need your help! Funding is needed for
- Dutch books for the January courses,
- various books for the classes opening in the second semester,
- class materials, such as notebooks, pens, highlighters,
- provision of lunch and dinner, and
- language/ culture related activities, such museum-visits.
As students of AUC, we acknowledge our privileged position and the responsibility we carry within the current socio-political context. We believe that the right to education is universal. With this initiative we therefore try to provide a university education to as many refugee students as possible.
We hope that you will support this initiative.
